Information for Schools

After our successful inaugural festival this past April…. we have listened to your suggestions and are returning bigger and better for 2008! Our next festival will be held from February 24th - March 2nd, 2008. Your input has shown this to be a much more convenient time in the school calendar for class participation. This year along with a great film line-up we have an exciting new addition to our festival program…

Along with our curriculum-based films, we are offering FILM MAKING WORKSHOPS for grades 4-12. In addition to being educational, they are just a whole lot of fun! Each student will go home with a DVD of their own movie that they have had the opportunity to produce under the direction of film making professionals.

You will have 3 options this year:
Watch films that have been selected with curriculum in mind and use our study guides for before and after the screening.
Watch the film and participate in the film making workshop.

Study Documents

Reel Fun Film Festival’s films address many contemporary social issues and provide a wealth of information relevant to themes in the Alberta Curriculum Education guidelines.

All films are listed with a grade recommendation intended to be used as a guide for teachers when selecting screenings for students.  These recommendations are based on our experience and knowledge and through consultation with educators.  We recognize however, that children respond in varied ways and therefore we leave the final decision to you.

The documents below are intended to be used pre and post film screening. They are not teacher guides nor lesson plans, but ideas, activities, and information which can be used when creating your own lesson plans.

Should you have any questions with regards to planning do not hesitate to contact our school liasion Simone Dold @ (403) 816-8024
