About Us
Film is fast, fun and fresh, making it the perfect medium for today’s youth. Through film, RFFF can open minds to cultural diversity by showcasing exceptional stories of the human experience, promoting emotional intelligence and developing media literacy among youths in the community.
In order to reach as many students as possible, our initiatives this year include:
  • Encouraging participation of all students in the Calgary area; including public schools, separate schools, French Immersion programs as well as charter schools and home schooled students.
    • Participation of French Immersion programs will be encouraged with the addition of a francophone film.
    • A portion of funds raised will be used to bring in school groups who may otherwise not be able to afford to attend.
  • Films are chosen to fit within the Alberta Education guidelines to help teachers deliver the curriculum while presenting the material in an exciting new medium aimed at the students.
    • For each film, participants receive a comprehensive study guide. Included in the guide are questions to guide classroom discussion, worksheets and suggested activities to complement the film.
    • Curriculum links include: Health and physical education, Family Studies, Social Studies and Humanities, Language Arts, History and Geography as well as Film Studies and World Studies.

The Reel Fun Film Festival is a registered non-profit Society and a charitable organization.
