Feb 15 Reel Fun Family Day |
The Reel Fun Family Day event is the official kick off to our 2010 Reel Fun Film Festival. Join us for an all-day event at the Cardel Theatre from 10-4 for a day packed with film, fun and festivities. Where else can you bring the entire family to celebrate Family Day?
Reel Fun Family Day Screenings
Come and join us for a series of short films to be screened throughout the day. Series 1, premiering from 11:00 - 12:30 is ideal for film buffs aged 5 and up. Series 2 premiering from 1:30 - 3:00 is ideal for film buffs aged 10 and up. In between, wander around and have a bite to eat, and check out all of the great interactive booths from our Industry partners!

Reel Fun Family Day Events
Reptiles!
Dean Harper, reptile trainer for movies and television for 15 years. Several reptile stars will be on hand for families to get up close and personal with!
Special Effects Makeup!
Gail Kennedy, Emmy Award winning Make-up Artist for film and television with over 30 years’ experience will be providing special effects make-up demonstrations on willing participants!
Camera Operator!
Regan Enderl, camera operator/assistant for film and television with 20 years’ experience, will have an interactive booth where kids can try their hand at camera operating and other key positions on a film set!
Movie Dogs!
Flo Krisko, animal trainer for film and television for the past 18 years will have a cool movie dog performance and teach kids how they can train their dog to be on the big screen!
Edit a Movie!
Duane Martin, editor for film and television, will have an interactive editing suite where you make the callon where to cut and where to add cool sound effects!
Claymation!
Come and try your hand at making a claymation movie. The Director’s Cut will be there to show you how to make a claymation animated movie ...become just like Steven Spielberg! |

Selected film makers from the Director’s Cut filmmaking camps will have the chance to show their films to friends and family at the Director’s Cut Red Carpet and After Party event. |

We are proud and excited to bring Calgarians the CANADIAN PREMIERE of an amazing family/musical drama “Broken Hill”. At the screening the writer/director and producer of the film will be in attendance for a Q & A and to participate in the celebrations afterwards! This is a wonderful film for the whole family starring Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), award-winning actor Timothy Hutton, and up-and-coming Australian star Luke Arnold. Your admission includes the film, popcorn and drink and the celebration afterwards!
Meet The Filmmakers! Writer/Director Dagen Merrill and producer Chris Wyatt will be attending the screening and will answer all of your questions in a Q & A following the screening. |
