The Director's Cut will be conducting film making workshops in Calgary and area schools from October 2008-June 2009. | More Than Words GRADES I - 3 OPTION |
Snap some pictures… edit them… Create the coolest story lines ever and put your words into motion in our newest digital success story… MORE THAN WORDS! In this 6 week workshop you will become the digital author of your very own interactive story book. Learn angles for taking digital pictures, import your pictures and then edit them to creating an exciting adventure. Once complete, you go Hollywood and turn your story into a truly "moving experience".... Photos move before your eyes and with the help of transitions, special effects, music, sound effects and your own voice, your own live action story book comes to life! Special guest celebrity appearances in your book include.... WHO YOU WANT TO BE! Check us out and see where your imagination takes you!
This workshop is currently being offered for young director's in grades K, 1, 2 and 3 as a part of our Literacy Media workshops.
This is a full day in class workshop and is inclusive of a pre and post curriculum package that includes an assessment and evaluation kit.

| Comic Relief - GRADES 3 - 8 OPTION |
Wham! Shazam! Pow! Only a few choice words used by your favorite super hero as they around around the world to battle evil and save the world from.... well anything you can imagine! At the Director's Cut, you become the author, digital illustrator, digital photographer and creator in our all star workshop Comic Relief! using our digital cameras, lap top computers, expert super hero instruction (please note our instructors are only super heroes on weekends and after 9), and your imagination, you along with your cast of side kicks will create you idea, take digital pictures, edit them and then comicfy yourselves, creating a one of a kind, published comic book that may make Stan Lee get a little nervous! Not into super heroes, then try… anything you want..... it's your imagination you know!
The Comic Relief Workshop is designed for director's in grades 3 through 8.

| Toying Around - GRADES 4 - 6 OPTION |
Do your toys have a secret life of their own? Are you 6 to 10 years old? Do you need a video camera to catch your toys in the act? Well, at The Director's Cut, action figures and toys can come to life! Using our video cameras, Apple lap top computers, our expert instruction and your imagination things will come to life in your very own Hollywood blockbuster! This 6 week workshop puts you in the director's chair and on location. Using stop motion videography, and your toys, you will create the DVD, add the sound effects, voice overs and music, all to be showcased on your very own, first edition DVD. The Toyin' Around workshop is designed for our young directors between in grades 4 to 6.

| Claymation - GRADES 5 - 12 OPTION |
At The Director's Cut, what you think is what you get! In this one of a kind workshop, clay is the main ingredient for fun! You construct your own characters and scenes and then using our stop motion technology and cutting edge video cameras, lap top computers, expert instruction and your imagination, you will bring things to life in your very own Hollywood blockbuster stop motion film! Don't forget to add sound effects, voice overs, special effects, transitions and titles to make your film a shoe in for an Academy Award!

Claymation is offered to our Junior and Intermediate Film crews in grades 5 through 12

| I Wanna Rock Music Video Production- GRADE 7 - 12 OPTION |
Hard Rock, Rock 'n Roll, Rap, Hip Hop… You can be anything you wanna be in our all new mobile sound engineering studio! Scratch out some old school, or pump up the volume and make all the old people scream for mercy!
We put you in the sound studio and let your imagination run with the notes, as you create your very own digital music sound track. You become the world's next IDOL in this one of a kind digital music production workshop, creating the loops, developing the beats and assembling a soundtrack that once completed, will make you… THE WORLD'S NEXT IDOL! Take a step out of our recording studio and onto the red carpet, as you take your music to the big screen. Spend the afternoon learning how to make your own music video, complete with chroma keying and other cool stuff (don't worry our instructors will let you know what that means!) At the end of the day you will have created your own digital sound track and music video.... that's right, all in one day!

| Hot Doc’s - GRADES 8 - 12 OPTION |
In this full day in class workshop, film crews will have the opportunity to choose a social issue and critically learn how to develop a documentary to portray it. Using the latest in digital media technology, film crews will critically develop their concept, script their film, develop and implement still images as a part of a moving story and then film a narrative portion to accompany the images. Music, titling, and voice overs will be added to bring the documentary to life.
This workshop is currently being offered for young director's in grades 8 - 12 as a part of our Media Literacy workshops.
